About Holymoorside Pre-School

Our very friendly Pre-school has been based in the village hall for over 40 years and it is certainly a beautiful setting. This enables us to take every opportunity to explore the local environment visiting the woods, fields, village walks, church and the local shop. The present staff have run the group for over 25 years and all hold the recommended child care qualifications and regularly attend training. We operate on a high adult to child ratio with 4 members of staff on duty for each session and 2 volunteers who attend when they are able. Parents take part in a rota to help daily from 11.30 to 12.30 playing and putting all the toys away. We also encourage parents/carers to bring their skills/interests into the setting, we have had jugglers, musicians, policemen in full uniform, singers to name a few. Holymoorside Pre-school works to the same Early Years Framework used by schools and day care nurseries with Key-workers monitoring the development of individual children by keeping records, doing observations and assessments which we discuss regularly with parent/carers. By selecting a wide variety of topics we aim to make every day stimulating and fun.
