Brackenfield School is a generic area special school with specialist school status for cognition and learning. All of our students have learning difficulties and many have associated disabilities such as Autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour. Our focus is developing our students into independent young adults. We take children from Derbyshire and neighbouring Local Authorities including Derby City, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. We offer: - Bespoke, individual learning packages with a clear focus on developing functional literacy and numeracy skills and life skills in order to be as independent as possible - Small classes with a high staffing ratio - A clear ethos and support in dealing with the challenges that our students and parents face particularly with regards to behaviour - Accredited qualification routes including construction and horticulture - A range of therapeutic input including Speech and Language Therapy and social communication development We offer places for children whose needs can be described as cognition and learning needs; specific learning difficulties; moderate learning difficulties or severe learning difficulties.
