Peak school offers provision for pupils whose needs can be described as: - Cognition and learning needs - Severe learning difficulties - Profound and multiple learning difficulties Children with these central needs may also have: - Behaviour, emotional and social development needs - Autistic spectrum disorder - Communication and interaction needs including sensory impairment - Sensory and/or physical needs Peak school offers and individual approach to teaching with a curriculum that emphasises physical, emotional and communication development alongside the teaching of the core subjects. In addition to any therapy services that your child will have provided by the NHS, Peak School employ their own Speech and Language therapists, physiotherapists, full-time school nurse. On our site we have a wonderful hydrotherapy pool, large classrooms, sensory spaces, individual work rooms and covered play areas. We make the best use of being set in a beautiful area of the peak district using the locality as our wider classroom alongside an active programme of outdoor pursuits. Our Post 16 curriculum is designed to promote independent life and living skills which includes college placements, work experience and accredited courses. In Derbyshire all families are entitled to up to 570 hours per year of free 'early education' from the term following your child's third birthday.
