Apprenticeships for employers
An apprenticeship is a way for young people and adult learners to earn while they learn in a real job, gaining a real qualification and a real future. Hiring apprentices helps businesses to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.
Apprenticeships are proper jobs with structured training to prescribed standards that require a significant time investment by the employee and employer. For an employer, taking on an apprentice must fit with its work patterns and skills needs. We will work with you to get the right apprentice to help you meet your business needs.
We support businesses to employ and train apprentices in a variety of sectors. Frameworks can include:
- business administration
- customer service
- food and beverage
- teaching assistant
We are able to support apprentices with functional skills in English, Maths and ICT.
We can help your business succeed by doing the hard work for you, for free. We can:
- assess your business needs
- advertise your vacancies
- screen CVs
- complete initial assessments and pre-interview candidates
- deliver training in the workplace or one of our well-equipped centres
- support you in claiming an apprenticeship incentive
- assess performance using an e-portfolio
- certificate apprentices.
All apprentices must be paid a minimum of £3.40 per hour for the first year for at least 30 hours per week, including the time they are training. The training consists of both 'on the job' and structured 'off the job' elements and will last for a minimum of a year depending on the level.
