Children and Young People's Plan

The Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP) is an important element of the reforms underpinned by the Children Act 2004. Local areas are required to produce a single, strategic, overarching plan for all services affecting children and young people.

Derbyshire produced its first Children and Young People's Plan in 2006 and reviewed and refreshed the plan in 2007.

The Derbyshire plan supports more integrated and effective services in order to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The plan has been developed following extensive and ongoing consultation with:

  • Children and young people themselves.
  • People who provide services to children and young people.
  • Parents and carers.

The plan identifies where children and young people need outcomes to be improved, and how and when these improvements will be achieved.

The plan and the process of joint planning is helping Derbyshire Children and Young People's Trust partners as they work together. The partners have:

  • Agreed clear targets and priorities for all services affecting children and young people.
  • Identifed the actions and activities needed to achieve them, and how they will be delivered.

A summary of the plan is available from Call Derbyshire on 08 456 058 058 or to view in libraries.
