Local Public Service Agreement 2 (LPSA2) (DCC)

In December 2005, the county council agreed its second Local Public Service Agreement (LPSA) with the Government.

The agreement contains a number of challenging stretch targets to improve a range of public services that have a significant impact on individuals and communities within Derbyshire.

The targets seek to achive measurable improvements in the following key areas:

  • Better life chances for young people
  • better life chances for looked after children and those leaving care
  • reduced crime
  • improved safety of local people
  • increased independence and quality of life for older people
  • improved health of children
  • improved employment chances for local people
  • improved access for local people.

The LPSA2 was developed in consultation with partner agencies and the targets are an integral part of the Derbyshire Local Area Agreement and are included in the authority's Council Plan.

Progress against targets will be reported on a six monthly basis through the Derbyshire Partnership Forum, the county wide local strategic partnership and to Members through the council's own performance management arrangements.

The council is expected to receive an up front grant of £1.49m to develop activities which will support the acheievement targets.  Should all the targets in the LPSA2 be met, the council and its partners could recieve a performance reward grant of £18.6m.
