Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs)

Local Government Act 2000 requires all local authorities to work more closely with local partners to develop and deliver a community strategy.

The government is encouraging more partnership working and requires local authorities to develop strong relationships with partners so that together we can provide the most effective services to meet the needs of local people.

One of the ways that we are working effectively with partners is through Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs). LSPs are over-arching groups made up of representatives from the public, private, community and voluntary sectors, who have come together to work in partnership to improve the economic, social and environmental well being of a local area.

Each LSP in Derbyshire has produced a community strategy that identifies key priorities where partners will work together to improve services that will make life better for everyone who lives in, works in or visits the area. Each community strategy has been developed in response to the needs of local people which have been identified through a wide range of consultation with residents and local organisations. The focus is on those things that can best be done in partnership, to avoid duplication and make the best use of available resources.
