Healthier Communities and Older People

Healthier Communities and Older People is one of the four areas of the Derbyshire Local Area Agreement used to deliver outcomes that are the key issues for Derbyshire.

Healthier Communities and Older People builds on a track record of successful partnership working to and delivering good quality outcomes for local people.

There are seven over-arching outcomes:

improved health and emotional well being
improved quality of life
making a positive contribution
choice and control
freedom from discrimination
economic well being
personal dignity.

The priorities identified for future development support the findings of consultation with local residents undertaken in the development of the Derbyshire Community Strategy 2006-09

The importance of individuals taking greater responsibility for their own health, and the need to ensure adequate support and guidance are in place to enable them to do this were identified as key priorities. This fits with the government White Paper 'Our Health, Our Care, Our Say'.
