Governance arrangements

Governance arrangements for the Derbyshire Local Area Agreement (LAA) have developed significantly over the last twelve months.

The original LAA submission saw the development of effective streamlined governance and financial arrangements as critical to the successful delivery of the LAA. Significant progress has been made to establish structures and processes which will provide the LAA with solid foundations on which to move forward.

The document in the more information section illustrates the governance arrangements that are currently in place for the LAA.

It is recognised that further refinement of these arrangements may be required as progress is made.

In developing governance arrangements partners have taken into account a number of broad and underpinning principles.

  • Build on existing partnership structures and arrangements but attempt to rationalise where practicable.

  • Continue to foster positive working relationships between partners.

  • Encourage the active involvement/inclusion of as wide a range of local organisations as possible.

  • Are democratically and financially accountable.

  • Support and enable robust performance management and reporting mechanisms both between partner agencies and to Government.
