Safer Communities

The Safer Communities Board is the County Community Safety Partnership and brings together all relevant partners in Derbyshire.

The role of the Safer Communities Board (SCB) is to give leadership and direction to tackle crime, disorder and substance misuse. The remit of the Board also meets the new statutory regulations which require a county level group to identify priorities to feed into the Local Area Agreement and to help to co-ordinate the work of district and other partnerships tackling community safety issues.

The SCB will be supported and advised by the Safer Communities Tasking and Advisory Group (SCTAG) which comprises senior level officers from the partners represented on the Board. The SCTAG is responsible for the performance management functions of the Board.

Derbyshire’s priorities are to:

  • Reduce crime and the fear of crime

  • Reduce the harm caused by drugs and alcohol

  • Tackle anti-social behaviour and the effect it has on communities

  • Improve the safety of local people

Revised terms of reference for the Safer Communities Board were approved by the Derbyshire Partnership Forum in June 2008. These are available in the related documents section below and include details on membership and meeting arrangements. Here you wil also find a guide to the Safer Communities Board.

You can access the Derbyshire Community Safety Agreement 2008-11 (opens in a new window) on the Safer Derbyshire website, which sets out the priorities for July 2008 through to March 2011 and was revised in April 2009.
