Dementia Awareness Week

Our designate Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Councillor Jean Wharmby and Jess McFall of Making Space.

17 May 2017

To mark Dementia Awareness Week, the designate Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Councillor Jean Wharmby came together with national charity Making Space to launch the Tree of Life.

The tree is on display at County Hall, Matlock, and is decorated with origami birds created by people living with dementia, their carers, family members and friends at memory cafes and activity sessions across Derbyshire.

A symbol of peace and well-being, the cranes are being used to raise awareness of dementia, and the support services available in the county, during national Dementia Awareness Week, 14 to 20 May 2017.

We commission Making Space to deliver dementia support services throughout Derbyshire, providing information, guidance and support for those living with dementia and their carers.
