Exhibitors line up for Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair

Companies from Derbyshire and further afield will be showing off their wares at the Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair.


Elvaston Castle is hosting the event, which takes place on 17 and 18 May.

Foods on offer include venison burgers, Hartington cheese, homemade pizzas, paella, jams, chutneys and oils, cakes, spices, herbs and much more.

And for the thirsty there will be plenty to drink − from teas and coffees to champagne, traditional cordials, ales, vodkas and cider.

Celebrity cook and author Dean Edwards will be sharing his culinary skills in the cookery theatre throughout the weekend.

Councillor Joan Dixon, our Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said:

"The Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair is a great day out for all the family. It's in a wonderful setting and really is a food lover's paradise.

"The event shows our commitment to supporting Derbyshire's food and drink producers because they play a vital role in the county's economy − supporting thousands of jobs and boosting tourist trade."

Local chefs, including  Denise Tollyfield from Denby, James Duckett from Samuel Fox Country Inn and Peter Edge, from Harpurs in Melbourne will also be demonstrating their skills in the cookery theatre.

Toyota Motor Corporation is supporting the Japanese Pavilion at the event, and a delegation from Toyota City will be demonstrating and introducing some special recipes made with traditional green tea leaves. Visitors to the Japanese Pavilion will be able to sample and buy products. 

Toyota City specialities,  including Japanese sake, green tea, Japanese washi (traditional hand-made paper), will also be displayed and sold in the Japanese Pavilion.

Entry is payable on the day and costs £5 for adults and £1 for children.  Dogs are not allowed.

An hourly free shuttle bus service will operate on both days to and from Elvaston, picking up and dropping off at Derby Train Station. (Saturday 17th May - 10am and every hour until 4pm from Derby Bus Station via Pride Park, Derby Station (Roundhouse entrance) London Road, Blue Peter, Shardlow Road to Thulston & Elvaston Castle.  Returning from Elvaston at 11.30am and each hour until 5.30pm.  Sunday 18th May - 10am and every hour until 3pm from Bus Station via Pride Park, Derby Station (Roundhouse entrance) London Road, Blue Peter, Shardlow Road to Thulston & Elvaston Castle.
