Specialised transport services (mainstream home to school transport, special educational needs and disabilities transport, and adult care transport) privacy notice.


We're committed to protecting your personal data and ensuring that it is processed fairly and lawfully. Information you provide to us will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018, Data Protection Act 2018 and any subsequent legislation.

The data that we process may be your name and address or in certain circumstances we may be required to process more sensitive information, known as special category data, for example information relating to health.

Purpose of processing

The information provided will be processed for the purpose of the function, commissioning, managing and reimbursement of the transportation of eligible and authorised individuals to various establishments both within Derbyshire and in other local authority areas. Information may be processed for other lawful purposes in accordance with relevant legislation. The processing is necessary in order to comply with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject, namely the Education and Inspection Act 2006 (home to school transport assistance), The Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 (access to services for prescribed groups of disabled people), the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014 (safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults).

Who receives this information

This information will be shared with the specialised transport teams from the relevant client departments (children’s services and adult care) as well as other statutory agencies such as schools, day centres, Derbyshire licensing authorities, the police, other local authorities, for the purpose of providing and ensuring safe and legal passenger transport services. It will not be shared with any other third parties unless required by law. The information provided will not be used for marketing purposes, or to take any automated decisions.

How long we will keep this information

The information provided will be kept in accordance with our retention policy.
