Young people and homophobia

Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2015

The Stonewall Education Equality Index is a comprehensive annual benchmarking exercise for local authorities, which will showcase how well they are tackling homophobia and homophobic bullying in their schools and supporting lesbian, gay and bisexual young people in their local community.

Some schools across the county are also part of Stonewall's School Champions programme and are featured in the primary school best practice guide.

What to do if you or someone you know are being bullied at school

Every school is required to have a way for pupils and parents to report bullying and should have their own anti-bullying policy. Please check your school intranet or ask a teacher at your school for more information. In the first instance please talk to a teacher you trust if you are being bullied.

We have set up a scheme so that schools can receive accreditation for their anti-bullying work called the Derbyshire Preventing and Tackling Bullying Award.

Check if your school is a member, and if not, get your school council to encourage the school to join.
