Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month 2011
"LGBT History Month is an annual event that celebrates the lives of LGB and T people - acknowledging their role in history, culture and society.
"LGBT History Month also plays a vital part in raising awareness of the prejudice and discrimination that LGB and T people still face, and helping to break down barriers and promote opportunity for all.
"LGBT History Month's focus on sport highlights the valuable contribution that LGB and T players and fans bring to their game. It also shines a spotlight on the homophobia and transphobia too many LGB and T people face when following or playing in sports they love. We cannot allow messages of hate and discrimination to tarnish the value that sport brings to our lives and our society."
