Martyn Ford

Martyn Ford

I was first elected on to the council in May 2005 and I'm delighted that I continue to represent the Repton and Willington division.

As well as having the privilege of Chairing the above committee I also sit on the council's Health and Adult Care Improvement and Scrutiny Committee, a position that presents its own challenges as the authority faces the huge problem of future demographic changes associated with age profiles.

I also represent the council on the Derbyshire Combined Fire Authority where I'm keen to get involved with many aspects of its responsibilities.

As well as being a county councillor I also represent Willington and Findern ward on South Derbyshire District Council where I'm Chairman of Development and Control.

Outside of local politics I work in the aerospace industry and I really enjoy spending quality time with family and friends - and walking my Springer Spaniel, Murphy.

I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council's b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. For details of how to do this please read our openness at meetings page.
