Barry Lewis

I was elected on to the council in June 2009 and joined its cabinet in September 2010. I also represent Shirland Ward on North East Derbyshire District Council.
I am currently a Director of Amber Valley Wines, a fledgling business attempting to grow vines to produce wines in the Amber Valley.
I am passionate about the countryside and Derbyshire's unique landscapes and scenery. I am always happy to hear from others who share this passion for our landscape and heritage.
As a professional archaeologist, I have written widely for magazines and journals on archaeology, particularly rock-art and I have authored a book 'Hunting in Britain: From the Ice Age to the Present'.
I represent the county council on the Derbyshire Archaeological Advisory Committee and Creswell Heritage Trust Council of Management where I am currently the chairman.
I'm interested in themes that build sustainable and cohesive communities and villages and I'm always interested in hearing from local groups that work to do this.
