About me

I was elected on to the council in June 2009 and, as well as the above position, I’m a member of the Communities, Culture and the Environment Improvement and Scrutiny Committee.

I am a retired general medical practitioner having had a practice in Dronfield until 2001. I feel that over the years I have developed the ability to listen to people’s concerns and to act in response, skills which I hope I will be able to bring to my work as a councillor.

I am married to John, also a county councillor, with two adult children and one grandchild.

I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question.

Outside bodies

I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
