About Me

I was first elected on to the council in 1989 for four years, then re-elected in May 2005.  As well as my Cabinet Support role I sit on three of its Improvement and Scrutiny committees  -  Healthier Communities, Resources and Services for Children  -  and its Regulatory Planning and Control Committee.  I’m also a North East Derbyshire District councillor, a local school governor and a former Clay Cross parish councillor. I was born and bred in the area and continue to live in it along with my wife, Gillian, our children and their families.

Below you’ll find details of when I hold my surgeries, how to contact me and some of the issues relating this area. There’s also the chance for you to have your say, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come.

Have Your Say

I'm always keen to get your feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people may prefer to make their voice heard through the council's b line (opens in a new window) site or magazine.

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock.    You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here.
