Your council
I was first elected on to the council in 1989 where I’m currently Shadow Cabinet Member for Culture, and a member of the authority’s Education and Young People Improvement and Scrutiny Committee. I also represent the council on the Derbyshire Combined Fire Authority.
Locally I’m an Erewash Borough councillor and President of both the Long Eaton and District Talking Newspaper for the Blind and the Long Eaton Silver Prize Band.
I’m also a governor on Brooklands Primary School and a member of the Long Eaton Sea Cadets management committee.
I’m always prepared to get involved in local activities and have made financial contributions to many local worthwhile projects and initiatives through the county council’s community leadership scheme.

I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
