Your council
I was first elected on to the council in May 2005 where I’m Shadow Cabinet Member for Communities and a member of the Health and Adult Care Improvement and Scrutiny Committee.
I’m a governor on Dallimore Primary School, Kirk Hallam Sports and Community Technology College and Bennerley Fields School, which has specialist Communication and Language status and enrols children from a wide area.
I’m also a member of Ilkeston Age Concern Group, supporting our local luncheon clubs and volunteers.
I believe people are the heart of a community and became involved with voluntary work in 1997, working as a volunteer with older people and helping to set up a youth club with similar minded neighbours.
I’m passionate about speaking up for and acting on behalf of people, so the best part of my job is giving local people a louder voice, especially on how their council services are provided.
I often state, ‘we are like the “sixth” emergency service - so please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need help in any way.

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings (opens in a new window) which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question.
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
