Your council
I was elected onto the council in 1993 and served as its civic head, Chair of the authority, for two years from 2001. I’m a member of its Healthier Communities Improvement and Scrutiny Committee, Chair of the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education and a member of the Standards Committee.
I also represent the council on the Derbyshire Police Authority. In addition I’m a governor on three local schools - Chaucer Junior, Kensington Junior and Bennerley Fields - and I’m an active member of Ilkeston St Andrew's Methodist Church.

I'm always keen to get your feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people may prefer to make their voice heard through the council's b line (opens in a new window) site or magazine.
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here.
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
