I was first elected onto the council in 1997 and spent five years on its cabinet prior to June 2009, mainly leading on environmental services including highways.

I'm currently Shadow Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport and a member of the Communities, Culture and the Environment Improvement and Scrutiny Committee. I'm also on the Improvement and Scrutiny Management Committee and the Pensions Committee, and represent the council on the Peak District National Park Authority Joint Advisory body.
