Your council
I was elected on to the council in June 2009 at the age of 48, and as well as my cabinet role I am a member of the Regulatory Planning Committee.
For 18 years I was a fire-fighter but I am now the Managing Director of our family’s Ashbourne based bakery and restaurant business, and I have two children.
I am also a Derbyshire Dales district councillor, a former Mayor of Ashbourne and I have twice stood for parliamentary election.
Locally I am a trustee of the Governors of Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School and Alms Houses Trust and a former Vice-chairman of Kniveton Church of England Primary School board of governors.
If you want to contact me about any aspect of Derbyshire County Council’s business or services you can do so by using the following details:
I am currently in the process of arranging surgeries but you can always get in touch with me through the contact details given here.
I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
