Your council
I was born in 1971 and elected on to the council in May 2005, making me one of Derbyshire's youngest county councillors and the youngest County Council Leader in the country.
As well as serving as Leader of the Council, I am the Cabinet Member for Culture and Chairman of the Derbyshire Partnership Forum. I sit on the East Midlands Regional Assembly and represent the county council on the Local Government Association.
In addition I am a Derbyshire Dales District Councillor for Ashbourne South and serve as Chairman of the Southern Area Community Forum.
As well as the county council outside bodies listed below, I am a director or committee member of the following public interest bodies: Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust, Ashbourne Gateway Youth Centre, Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team, Marston Safer Neighbourhood Team, Hulland Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Ashbourne Partnership.
If you want to contact me about any aspect of Derbyshire County Council’s business or services you can do so by using the following details:
I am Chairman of the Derbyshire Dales District Council Southern Area Community Forum, which meets every four months in my electoral division, where I and other elected members - along with county council, district council, police and fire officers - are available to meet you. For details you can call 01629 761100 or visit www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk (opens in a new window) or, if you are a resident and you would like to see me you can write, ring or email so I can arrange a mutually convenient time for us to meet.
I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailingyoungpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
