Andrew Lewer

I was born in 1971 and elected on to the council in May 2005, making me one of Derbyshire's youngest county councillors and the youngest County Council Leader in the country.

As well as serving as Leader of the Council, I am the Cabinet Member for Leadership and Culture and Chairman of the Derbyshire Partnership Forum. I sit on the East Midlands Councils' Executive and am a Deputy Chairman of the Local Government Association and Deputy Chairman of the LGA Culture, Tourism and Sport Board.

In addition I am a Derbyshire Dales District Councillor for Ashbourne South and serve as  Chairman of the Southern Area Community Forum.

As well as the county council outside bodies listed below, I am a director or committee member of the following public interest bodies: Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust,  Ashbourne Gateway Youth Centre, Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team, Marston Safer Neighbourhood Team, Hulland Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Ashbourne Partnership.

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. I am Chairman of the Derbyshire Dales District Council Southern Area Community Forum, which meets every four months in my electoral division, where I and other elected members - along with county council, district council, police and fire officers - are available to meet you.
