Your council
I was first elected on to the council in 2005 and currently sit on its Standards Committee.
I have lived in the Spire division of Chesterfield all my life and I have a son and three grand daughters.
As a mature student, I studied at Sheffield University gaining a Sociology BA (hons), Socio-legal studies MA and a PhD.
I became a volunteer adviser at Chesterfield Citizens Advice Bureau, before becoming a Chesterfield Borough councillor for St Leonards ward in 1999, a position I still hold.
If you want to contact me about any aspect of Derbyshire County Council’s business or services you can do so by using the following details:
On the second Saturday of every month you can find me at the Derbyshire Unemployed Workers’ Centre on Saltergate, Chesterfield, between 10am and 11.30pm. There’s no need to make an appointment, just drop in. I also call at homes in my constituency during my street surgery rounds.
I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
