About Me

I was elected on to the council in 1993 and have served on all major committees, such as education, social services, highways, transport, libraries, heritage and countryside. I've been Cabinet Member for Environment and Highways and Public Protection and Transport, and was Vice Chair of the county council before I became its Chair for two years until April 2007. As well as my position on the Sustainable and Safe Communities Improvement and Scrutiny Committee I'm also on the Services for Children Improvement and Scrutiny Committee.

Below you’ll find details of when I hold my surgeries, how to contact me and some of the issues relating to this area. There’s also the chance for you to have your say, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come.

Have Your Say

I'm always keen to get your feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people may prefer to make their voice heard through the council's b line (opens in a new window) site or magazine.

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock.    You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here.
