Your council
I was first elected to the council in 1995 and I’ve lived in the Ashgate area for many years. I’m also currently the Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council.
My main interests are in educational and environmental matters and particularly in encouraging the reduction of energy use, and in the use of renewable energy through solar panels, photo-voltaic cells, ground source heat pumps and other such measures.
Another main interest is in trying to help local residents resolve any concerns they may have relating to County Council service provision.
If you want to contact me about any aspect of Derbyshire County Council’s business or services you can do so by using the following details:
I hold regular surgeries in different parts of the area I represent to try and make it as convenient as possible for people to see me. There’s no need to make an appointment, just drop in. The time will vary depending upon how busy it gets, but I’ll be there for at least an hour. My surgeries are always advertised in the local press - or by a newsletter through your door.
I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
