Your council
I was elected onto the council in May 2005 and consider myself to be a keen environmentalist. I’m a council representative on the Derbyshire Combined Fire Authority and sit on the council’s Regulatory Licensing and Appeals Committee. I’m also Chair of Governors at Whitwell Primary School.
I’m a former steelworker, miner, district and parish councillor, and an active member of the Worksop and District Amalgamated Anglers Association.
I’m also a part time tutor with the National Federation of Anglers and for a number of years I ran an angling course at North Notts College. I’m always trying to encourage young people to take up angling. It’s a wonderful sport that can give people a focus and interest in life while helping them get physically active in the open air.
If you want to contact me about any aspect of Derbyshire County Council’s business or services you can do so by using the following details:
Rather than hold set surgeries I prefer an open approach, so I’m available 24/7 if people want to contact me.
I am always keen to get feedback, good or bad, on county council related matters so you can help shape what we do and how we do it, both now and in years to come. Young people can also make their voice heard through the council’s b_line (opens in a new window) site or by emailing youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk
You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
