Your council
I was first elected on to the council in 1996 and represent it on the Derbyshire Combined Fire Authority, of which I was Chair for a number of years until June 2009.
Locally I’m a governor at Riddings Junior and Somercotes Junior schools and a member of the Ironville and Codnor Park Youth Group, which works to improve facilities for young people in the village.
I live in Somercotes, where I’m currently Chairman of Somercotes Leisure Development Group made up of residents working to improve the recreation ground and provide football pitches and tennis courts. Its successes include Somerlea Park Centre, a new facility providing opportunities for all in the community.
I’m also an active member of the Friends of Pennytown Ponds Group and the Ironville and Codnor Park Management Committee.
I attend many tenants and residents meetings where I’m only too glad to listen or be able to help.
