About me

I was elected on to the council in June 2009 and I’m a member of its Health and Adult Care Improvement and Scrutiny Committee.

I moved to Heanor in 1969 and I and my two daughters were educated at local schools.  Both daughters now live in Ripley.

For 13 years, until 2008, I was a councillor on Amber Valley Borough Council and I’m currently a Heanor and Loscoe Town councillor. I represent the Town Council on me&u, a local organisation working to improve our area.

I’m a governor on two local schools, Howitt Primary Community School and Heanor Gate Science College, and a former Chairman and present Trustee Board member of the Mid-Derbyshire Citizens Advice Bureau.

I’m also a member of Unite (Amicus) and the Co-operative Party.

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock.  You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. Details of how to do this are available here (opens in a new window).
