Your council
I was elected on to the council in June 2009 and as well as the position above I’m a member of the Standards Committee and represent the council on the Derbyshire Combined Fire Authority.
I’ve lived in the area for most my life and for 25 years I was in the army where I rose to the rank of warrant officer before leaving to start my own small food retail business in Derbyshire, from which I’ve now retired.
As well as being a county councillor I’m an Alfreton Town councillor and an Amber Valley Borough councillor, with a particular interest in financial matters.
On a personal level I’m an Alfreton Town Football Club season ticket holder and i am a madly keen fan of very early 20th century blues music.

You can also come along to any of Derbyshire County Council meetings which take place six times a year, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, at its headquarters in Matlock. You can either just watch the proceedings or you can ask a question. For details of how to do this please read our openness at meetings page.
I represent the council on a number of outside organisations or bodies
