The civic service
Traditionally the chair holds a civic service shortly after taking on the role, at a venue of their choice.
Councillor Mrs Joyce Sanders became the civic head in April 2007 and held her civic service on Sunday 21 October 2007 at St Peter's Church, Belper.
The service's offering has been donated to the St Peter’s Redevelopment Fund.
