Governance

Our steering group is chaired by the council’s Head of Policy and includes representation from all the partner agencies.

The steering group provides strategic direction for us, offers advice and support to the head of the service and also assists in achieving co-ordination across the range of activities to reduce youth crime in the county. The chief officers of the partner agencies meet annually to approve the Youth Justice Plan. You can find a copy of the current plan on the youth offending page.
The council acts as banker to the service and is the employer of staff whose posts are funded by grants.
Major decisions requiring the allocation of funding are normally taken at the steering group and then approved by the council's Cabinet. You can find out more about the Cabinet in the Your Council section of the website.
