In 2006 we entered into a partnership agreement with Yangpu District in Shanghai. We signed a memorandum of understanding with Yangpu Education Bureau to facilitiate educational partnerships between our schools and communities.
We have been awarded three years of funding from HSBC and The British Council to support the partnership developments.
The Derbyshire Schools that have embarked on the 'Links with China Project' are as follows:

Preliminary visits to Yangpu were funded by the British Council and the co-ordinating Derbyshire teachers met with their counterparts to disucss project ideas.
The schools will recieve funding until 2010 to develop joint curriculm projects and to facilitate student exchanges.
Easter 2008 saw 42 Derbyshire students from Ecclesbourne School and Heaner Gate School visit their partner schools in Shanghai to work on joint curriculum projects with pupils from their partner schools and to gain invaluable real life experience in China.
