A bit of background

Why has Derbyshire Trusted Trader been set up?

In 2007, Derbyshire County Council published an Independent Living Strategy for Older People.

Older people we consulted expressed a lack of confidence when getting traders to carry out work around their home.

They wanted an easy way to get hold of traders and businesses who would do a good job at a fair price.

Derbyshire Trusted Trader has been set up for older adults and anyone else who worries about calling in traders or using businesses.

It aims to help combat rogue traders and door step crime, and to promote good standards of customer service and fair trading. It does this by supporting businesses that operate legally, fairly and honestly.

Who is running it?

Derbyshire trading standards runs the scheme. We developed it in partnership with other Derbyshire County Council departments such as adult social services, community safety, public relations and the council’s contact centre, Call Derbyshire.
