Social care grants for voluntary groups

There are several grants available to community groups in Derbyshire to assist with social care projects.

Community Self Help Fund/Local Member Development Budget

The primary aim of this fund is to assist local voluntary community groups to set up projects that are closely related to our social care activities.

It is a 'self help' fund designed to help communities to help themselves. The fund provides a grant to enable groups to get started. Once underway, projects are expected to locate funds from alternative sources.

Normally grant aid is spent on equipment, setting up costs, initial publicity and rent. In all cases support is provided on a 'one off' basis only.

Other than in very exceptional circumstances, it is not possible to guarantee any funding from this source beyond the end of the current financial year.

Holiday Playscheme Budget

This budget is intended to assist organisations that are involved in the provision of holiday activities for disabled and/or disadvantaged children.

Assistance has normally been used to support schemes during the six-week school holiday.

The budget provides a grant to assist primarily with staffing costs but may also be used by schemes to purchase equipment or for room hire.
