Broadband survey

We had a huge response to our broadband survey which supported our successful bid for money to transform services in the county.

Over 6,500 residents and businesses completed the survey which was heavily promoted in local media.

And the information it provided was used to back our successful bid for £7.39m from the Government's Broadband Delivery UK scheme.

Headline findings from residential respondents included:

  • Only 20 per cent said their internet service was very reliable

  • 34 per cent use the internet for home and business use

  • 67 per cent need to upload/download large documents

  • 36 per cent have to work from home one or more days a week

Information provided by businesses included:

  • 87 per cent said broadband connectivity is very important to operations

  • Only 11 per cent of businesses said their current service was very good

  • 48 per cent are very concerned about future broadband provision

  • 75 per cent said provision of superfast broadband will improve overall performance

  • 84 per cent said the availability of superfast broadband was either very or fairly important when relocating their business.
