About Holly House

The main purpose of placing children and/or young people with the staff team at Holly House is to integrate them into the community without prejudice or stigma and address the behaviours and attitudes that have made life difficult for them in the past. We are registered as a provider of care for children and young people who are experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties. The staff are committed to raising awareness and self-esteem of the children and young people in our care. Holly House is a 5 bedroom detached property situated on a main road location on the outskirts of Chesterfield. Cooking facilities are accessible to all the children and young people residents in the home and they are actively encouraged to prepare food when appropriate. Most of the time the staff at the home prepare and cook a range of different meals according to what the young people would like. We encourage all young people to take part in the prep and cooking of their meals but sometimes, they are unable to take part. When the meal is ready we like them to all sit down as a unit and eat together. After the meal, they are encouraged to clean up after themselves and help to clean down the kitchen.

Remove salt from tables and counters so customers don't just add it automatically. Don't add salt when boiling food such as rice, pasta, potatoes or vegetables. Use herbs or spices to improve the flavour of food rather than salt.

Use or offer non processed vegetables or salad. Offer fresh fruit or fruit salad alternatives. Offer wholemeal or wheat germ bread, pitta bread, flatbreads, naan, chappatis, pizza base etc.

Offer water, sugar free drinks or fruit juice. Use or offer fruit in fruit juice rather than syrup.
Pledges on allergens, smaller portions, alcohol and breastfeeding
Offer dishes which are guaranteed to be free from specified allergens. Offer small portions or servings.
