Free bus travel with Gold Card

Gold cardholders now get free off-peak bus travel throughout England.
New Gold Card

Anyone with a Gold Card – that’s people aged 60 and over and qualifying disabled people - can travel free on local buses across England after 9.30am up to 11.00pm weekdays and at any time during weekends and bank holidays.

So, if you go to another part of the country on holiday, for example, you will be able to travel on the local bus services free at off-peak times. You will not be able to travel free on long distance express or coach services or on special excursion or tour buses.

You can also use Gold Card to get free travel on community transport dial-a-bus services in Derbyshire and half fare train travel within Derbyshire and on some cross-border journeys.

To apply for a Gold Card pick up an application form from your local library, council office or a participating post office. You can also download an application form in the more information section of this page.
