On April 1 2008 Gold Card became part of a national scheme – the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme. Under this scheme, anyone eligible for Gold Card – that’s anyone aged 60 or over and people of any age with certain disabilities – now get free, off-peak, local bus travel throughout England. This means they can travel free-of-charge, by bus, after 9.30am up to 11.00pm weekdays and at any time weekends.
With the new scheme came other changes. Before April 2008 some disabled Gold Card holders could travel free, by bus, at any time, seven days a week. They also got free train travel at any time. Now they get the same benefits as all other Gold Card holders.
We are now reviewing Gold Card and want you to tell us what effect the changes, if any, have meant for you. You can complete a Gold Card consultation questionnaire online.
Questionnaire’s are also available from district, borough and city council offices, all Derbyshire and Derby City libraries, or by contacting Call Derbyshire 08456 058 058.
