Q What are Trading Standards there for?
A We enforce a lot of consumer protection legislation and can advise on consumer civil law.
You can view a leaflet giving more information on this.
When giving advice we need to remain impartial and we can not normally insist that a trader refund your money.
We aim to empower consumers to use their rights themselves.
We provide statistics to the Office of Fair Trading (opens in a new window) so that problem areas can be addressed.
