Our most frequently asked questions about holidays are below.

Q - I was thinking of going on holiday with a small local tour operator but they are not members of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA). Is it still safe for me to book?

A - Tour operators do not have to belong to ABTA or any other organisation but the Package Travel Regulations require them to have financial protection for their customers.

How they do this should be made clear in their brochure; the options are bonding, insurance or a special client account. If it's not clear, ask them. If they can't tell you, you tell us!

Q - The brochure said that our hotel had a swimming pool. When we got there it didn't. Is there anything you can do?

A - Yes. If a Tour Operator published a misleading brochure then we can investigate it under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

They should be taking all the reasonable steps they can to avoid incorrect entries and to inform customers well in advance of their holiday if they realise the brochure details are wrong or have changed.
