Births, marriages and deaths

We deal with the registration of births, deaths and marriages and in this section we'll provide you with the information you need at these times in your life.

The information in this section explains how we can help you at times of happiness by registering births and marriages and at times of sadness by registering a death.

We also have information on organising different types of ceremony, requesting replacement certificates plue the opening hours and contact details for each of our register offices.

A copy of our current Ceremony Guide is available in the related documents below.

Tell us once

When you register a birth or death you now only have to provide the information to us and we'll inform other relevant agencies on your behalf.

These include the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Revenue and Customs, housing and council tax offices and children's services.

This will help you sort out benefit entitlements more quickly, prevents a bereaved family member from receiving mail for a deceased relative and avoids the need for copies of certificates to be posted off to different organisations.

You'll find more about how you tell us once on the births and deaths web pages.
