Staveley Seniors Forum
Staveley Seniors Forum was established in the early part of 2005. The group hold their meetings on the last Thursday of each month at the Staveley and Barrowhill Parish Community Rooms.Events
The meetings run between 10.30am and 12pm. Many members arrive early at 10am for light refreshments. The group constantly look to improve quality of life issues and actively address many challenges that affect the local community.
Update
We are pleased to report that Staveley Seniors Forum is still a very well attended group. On average we have 25 people who regularly come along each month and everyone enjoys getting involved in all the topics and discussions. There are often some very testing questions asked of our visiting speakers.
We still get a wide variety of speakers each month on a range of topics, for example, the Citizens Advice Bureau, a physiotherapist and a foot specialist from Walton Hospital.
We have had officers from Derbyshire County Council discussing the impact that the new Staveley Centre will have from our area.
We are really proud to be so popular that we even have speakers waiting to come well into 2011. In June 2010 there was an annual bowls tournament in Staveley. We arranged and served the buffet − another well attended event that we were happy to be associated with.
The forum has had a commemorative bench placed in the Staveley Memorial Garden to remember our special friends Peter Stearn and Shirley Flint
