Trading standards advice for businesses
We provide advice to businesses to help them comply with the law.
Making sure that your business complies with trading standards law is important, but can sometimes seem daunting. We are here to help. We have a team of experienced trading standards officers, with a wealth of knowledge, who are happy to help any Derbyshire business, large or small, with practical advice and guidance.
Any Derbyshire business who want business advice from us has the following options available.
Derbyshire Trusted Trader scheme
Businesses can join the Derbyshire Trusted Trader scheme (if eligible) where, in addition to other benefits they will be entitled to up to two hours free advice per year.
Primary authority partnerships
If your business operates or sells products beyond Derbyshire, including online sales, you may be able to enter into a Primary Authority Partnership. Under the Primary Authority scheme, other regulators are unable to take enforcement action where you have followed specific advice provided by us.
D2N2 Growth Hub
Up to two hours free advice per year will be provided to any Derbyshire based business that is referred to us via the D2N2 Growth Hub. You can find out more by visiting our better business regulation pages
Chargeable bespoke business advice
Business advice is an important part of what we do. We can tailor advice to the needs of your business across the spectrum of trading standards legislation.
Fees are charged on a cost recovery basis. The maximum hourly rate payable is £65 plus VAT per hour.
Our expertise is dealing with all aspects of trading standards law. We can't give advice on other areas of law such as contractual disputes with other businesses or legislation enforced by other regulators.
