Animal movement licences

Foot and Mouth and Blue Tongue

Following recent cases of Foot and Mouth Disease and Blue Tongue Disease there have been restrictions on animal movements in place.

From the 17 October, Foot and Mouth restrictions have been lifted around the surveillance zone in Surrey. However, the Blue Tongue Disease restrictions remain in place.

For advice and more detailed information about these new rules or to obtain a copy of the General Licence and other documentation please Call Derbyshire on 08 456 058 058.

Alternatively you can call the DEFRA helpline 08 459 335577 or visit www.defra.gov.uk (opens in a new window).

Animal movement licences

All movements of cattle, deer, sheep, goats and pigs are controlled by a general licence.

Holdings are still subject to a standstill period and bio security measures.

Failure to comply with the rules laid down in the licences may result in revocation of the general licence and/or prosecution.

Download a licence

Licences relating to the movement of cattle, pigs, deer and sheep and goats are available to be downloaded from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' (DEFRA) website.

Download a copy of the appropriate licence (opens in a new window) from DEFRA's website.

In addition, deer, sheep and goats must be accompanied by an AML1 form and pigs by an AML2 form. You can download a PDF web form which you can complete online to request these forms by using the link below.
