European funding
On 30 June 2008, the North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire Priority Axis 2 ERDF Programme made its first call for bids. £8.15m of ERDF grant is being made available in this call to support economic and enterprise development activities within the eligible areas. Some match funding is also available to support relevant activity from the Alliance SSP.
The eligible areas are Ashfield, Bassetlaw and Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, and Bolsover and Chesterfield in Derbyshire (district local authority boundaries).
ERDF grant is available to support the priorities outlined in the North Notts and North Derbyshire Local Investment Plan, which are to:
- Stimulate and support new markets and enterprise opportunities
- Develop employment sites and premises
- Provide access to resources and support
- Revive local infrastructure and environments.
At the same time, the Alliance SSP will consider requests for match funding for activities which are consistent with both the Local Investment Plan and the Alliance SSP’s own Sub-Regional Investment Plan, making it possible to apply for up to 100% funding in a single application.
There is a two-stage application process. Expressions of interest should be submitted by 4pm on 25 July 2008.
Further information about the call, including the expression of interest form, local and regional guidance notes, details of the ERDF selection process and a full copy of the North Notts and North Derbyshire Local Investment Plan, are available online at www.eastmidlandserdf.org.uk (opens in a new window) – follow the Applying for Funding and then Priority Axis 2 links.
The European Regional Development Fund aims to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union by supporting regional economic development.
The total ERDF programme in the East Midlands is worth around £200m in ERDF grant, which when combined with match funding, provides a programme value of approximately £400m – a significant investment in the economic development of the region.
