Bring your budget into b_line!

Even with your b_line card tucked in your wallet, surviving on pocket money can be tough.  Use our special budget planner below for the best ways to look after your cash.

Firstly, you need to work out your income (the money that you're given or earn each week). This money might come from your parents (such as pocket money or an allowance), from a Saturday job or paper round, or other odd jobs such as washing the car.

Weekly income£ per week
Pocket money/allowance£
Jobs earnings£
Total weekly income £
Then you need to work out all your outgoings,  the money that you spend during the week. If you buy some things less often than once a week, like clothes, then work out the average you spend in a week, for example, if you usually spend £40 a month on clothes, that's about £10 a week.
Here's a suggested list, add your own at the end under "Others":
Weekly outgoings

Bus and train fares£
Comics and magazines£
Clothes£
Mobile phone£
Food and drinks£
Make up and jewellery£
CDs, books and computer games£
Sports (e.g. football club subs)£
Entertainment (e.g. cinema, bowling)£
Presents and cards £
Hobbies £
Savings for Christmas or holidays etc£
Other£
Total weekly outgoings£
What's left?     £

The number in the "What's left" box shows you how much you have left over at the end of the week.

If it's not got a minus sign in front of it, congratulations!

If it has though, or you're always borrowing off your friends to afford the things you want, then you can do one of two things, you can either: increase your income, or stop spending so much! To find out how to do this follow the links on the left hand side of this page.
