But every year lots of young people are the victims of text message rip-offs and get cheated out of thousands of pounds. 

It’s called mobile spamming and it’s illegal

b_line is campaigning to stamp out text scams. 

It is difficult to know how many of these scam messages are sent out and how many people have been ripped off. Young people who get conned might feel embarrassed so they do not report it.
